Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera – the only plant in my “garden” that survives.

I love my aloe vera plant.  I use it for everything…bites, burns, mosquito bites {and living in the tropical north of Australia, I’m always the proud disgruntled owner of an abundance of mosquito bites}.  Although Aloe Vera has been used for various purposes, with earliest known uses going back to the 16th century, there is actually little scientific evidence to back up claims of it’s healing and moisturising properties.  {But I use it anyway because that’s what my mom always told us to use.}

Sometimes science isn’t always right, right?  So let’s go with that hypothesis so I can continue on with telling you about all of the amazing benefits that aloe vera gives us:

  • High in vitamins and minerals
  • High in amino and fatty acids
  • Aloe Vera is an adaptogen
  • Helps with digestion
  • Helps with detoxificaition
  • Alkalises the body
  • Aids in cardiovascular help
  • Helps to boost the immune system
  • Great for the skin
  • Disinfectant, anti-biotic, anti-microbial, germicidal, anti-bacterial, anti-septic, anti-fungal and anti-viral
  • Helps to reduce inflammation

You can go here to find more information on each of these incredible benefits.

Do you have an aloe vera plant?  What do you use it for?  I’d love to know. 🙂
